The Klamath County Sheriff patrol division is the primary law enforcement response to all crimes within Klamath County. Deputies assigned to the patrol division serve many roles in order to deliver Sheriff Services to the 6,135 square mile county. The division responds to nearly 35,000 calls for service each year. Deputies provide courteous professional service to the community.
The division is comprised of Patrol deputies who provide all law enforcement functions throughout the county. The unit is able to deliver more service with less personnel ever before. This efficiency is due to a very dedicated and professional staff, enhanced technology which allows deputies to spend more time in the field and less in the office.
The Detective Unit focuses on the successful prosecution of complex and high profile crimes including sex crimes, person and property crimes. Detectives support the patrol division with specialized training in homicide, sex crimes, computer crime, identity theft and other more serious crimes.
The Rural Patrol Team has greatly enhanced service to the citizens within the rural areas of Klamath County. The team is comprised of Resident Deputies who reside in the rural areas and are community members themselves; Marine Deputies who patrol the 28 waterways of the County; USFS / BLM contract deputies who patrol federal lands pursuant to an agreement with the federal agencies; and Traffic Unit deputies who concentrate on traffic safety across the County. All team members receive training that enables them to perform one and others duties. This concept has enabled citizens to realize much quicker service from deputies who are already in their area on other business instead of waiting for a patrol deputy from another area of the County.
The Canine Unit The Klamath County Sheriff Canine Unit is composed of highly trained dog handlers and canines who are trained to detect drugs, explosives and in some cases serve as protection canines.
