Duck season Featured

Written by

Duck season starts on October 5th. KCSO Marine will be working the opening as usual and will be on the water early and focusing on navigation light violations. Navigation lights are required on all motorized boats between the hours of sunset and sunrise and during times of reduced visibility.

As these times change daily, boaters will need to be aware of actual sunset and sunrise times. Anyone stopped for a navigational light violation will be issued the 260.00 citation and sent back to shore to either correct the deficiency or until after sunrise.

KCSO Marine will also be looking for personal floatation device (pfd) violations and overloading issues. PFD's must be readily accessible and not under a pile of decoys and/or dogs. Cold weather, poor visibility, overloaded boats and bad weather make for extremely hazardous boating conditions and safety violations will be enforced.
